GIF reading/writing somewhat inconsistent

In IJ2 open T1 Head and save as GIF
Open GIF in IJ1: single plane image
Open GIF in IJ2: three plane image

Note that with SCIFIO we can't write GIFs any more until a GIF writer is implemented.

Not sure which version of Save I used (IJ1's or IJ2's?).
Anyhow open T1-Head and use IJ2's Save As to specify a GIF file extension. Now try to open that file up. IJ2 complains that it is not a valid GIF file.
