Or ramp too? Current gradient image ramps float data the same as integer data. IJ1 supported ramping on File New and it ramped float data between 0 and 1. Not sure whether this is a Gradient issue or a File New issue.

Such a plugin has existed for some time now.
Much like Gradient Image plugin, but black or while background.
