Test images don't survive IJ2->IJ1->IJ2 round trip

Description

Creating test ramp images (File\New\Image) the images look fine with a grayscale ramp, but if you apply a LUT (Image/Lookup Tables/Fire) the LUT range is distorted for some image formats.

Note that in the Image/Lookup Tables submenu the LUTs are marked with the microscope icon as an IJ1 feature, hence the IJ2->IJ1->IJ2 round-tripping.
